ShapeShift cryptocurrency exchange acquires hardware wallet company KeepKey
ShapeShift cryptocurrency exchange has acquired hardware Bitcoin wallet company KeepKey. Both companies posted deal confirmations today.ShapeShift will continue to use the KeepKey brand for further hardware wallet releases and has no plans to make any personnel changes. KeepKey was originally integrated with ShapeShift using the exchange API. This allowed wallet users to change cryptocurrencies through the exchange right in the wallet..
“This partnership will not only ensure the success of the KeepKey brand and product line in the future, but will also allow the ShapeShift team to embark on an ongoing effort to develop the best technology and security for crypto holders,” says KeepKey CTO Ken Holder..
At the end of July, KeepKey announced the end of support for the MultiBit bitcoin wallet, which it bought in May 2016..
