Coinbase intends to patent the “BUIDL” trademark
American exchange Coinbase intends to patent the “BUIDL” trademark, which denotes a recently popular term in the cryptocurrency community, which is a modified word “build” - to build, and an analogy of the term “hodl”.It is most often used by community members as a call to continue working on cryptocurrency projects when hodling is no longer so attractive.
Coinbase wants to use “BUIDL” as the brand name for its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, which provides tools “to conduct transactions using virtual currency”, according to an October 2 filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office. In particular, the "BUIDL" service will include "software for managing, buying, selling, storing, transferring, exchanging, sending and receiving virtual currency".
What kind of service we are talking about is currently not clear, but this summer Coinbase received a patent for a secure Bitcoin payment system..
